≡ Govt To Honor Unrecognized Independence Fighters
The government says it will honor hundreds of independence fighters who have yet to be recognized for their work.
Announcing the result of its inspection last year, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs said over 5,300 people were imprisoned during the Japanese colonial era for advocating Korea's independence.
The ministry said nearly 2,500 of them have not received state recognition.
The move comes as part of a project to mark the centennial of the March 1st Independence Movement.■
