≡ Prosecutors Expand Probe Into KT Over Bribery Allegations
Prosecutors are expanding their probe into bribery allegations in connection with mobile carrier KT and high-profile opposition lawmakers.
According to the prosecution, a separate probe on alleged hiring irregularities by KT of the daughter of Liberty Korea Party lawmaker Kim Sung-tae raised the possibility that the cases might be connected.
The prosecutors are investigating suspicions that KT's incumbent top executives, led by Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu, created a 1.1 billion-won slush fund between May 2014 and October 2017.
About 40 percent of the illegal fund was reportedly spent to bribe some 99 lawmakers.■[2019.03.24]
