Korean stocks finished higher today as institutional buyers scooped up large-cap shares on news that China had offered to reduce its trade surplus with the United States.
The benchmark KOSPI added 0.5 percent to close at 2,461.
Elsewhere in Asia, Hong Kong rose 0.5 percent, Shanghai ended up 1.2 percent while Tokyo closed 0.4 percent higher.
The local currency closed at 1,078 won against the U.S. dollar, up 3.6 won from the previous session's close.■
