Cheong Wa Dae says President Moon Jae-in will try to use his summit with President Donald Trump next week to broker a nuclear deal between the U.S. and North Korea.

Moon is scheduled to meet with Trump on Tuesday in Washington, three weeks ahead of the planned U.S.-North Korea summit on June 12th in Singapore.

Deputy Director of the presidential National Security Office Nam Gwan-pyo told a briefing this afternoon that Moon and Trump are expected to have in-depth discussions about plans to realize the complete denuclearization of the North and lasting peace on the peninsula.

Nam said they will also talk about ways to guarantee a bright future for Pyongyang when the regime achieves complete nuclear disarmament.

Moon will depart for Washington late Monday.■
