Washington is accelerating preparations for follow-up negotiations with Pyongyang over dismantling its nuclear weapons program.
After holding a series of meetings with U.S. officials in Washington, Seoul's chief nuclear envoy Lee Do-hoon told reporters that the next round of talks will likely be held in the near future.
He said the negotiating team will be mostly formed of State Department officials, who will actively coordinate their stance on denuclearization and other practical issues.
Last week, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo flew to Pyongyang to flesh out an agreement on denuclearization but publicly reported little tangible progress.■
