It is almost the middle of August and South Korea is still in the grips of a prolonged heat wave that is showing no signs of abating anytime soon.
The capital Seoul has endured tropical nights for 23 consecutive days.
Residents across most of the nation are expected to face more restless nights for the time being.
Sporadic showers are in today's forecast with up to 40 millimeters of precipitation expected in the afternoon.
However, chances are low the rain will help cool down temperatures, with the sweltering summer heat likely to continue for at least 10 more days until next Thursday.■
