President Moon Jae-in has arrived in France on the first leg of his nine-day tour through Europe.
In a meeting with Korean residents in Paris Saturday, Moon thanked them for taking part in candlelight vigils over a massive corruption scandal involving the former government.
He also stressed the need for joint efforts to denuclearize North Korea.
In his summit with French President Emmanuel Macron, Moon said he will ask France, a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, to support the denuclearization of and lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The Korean president will attend a concert featuring K-pop sensation BTS, before heading to Rome Tuesday for official visits to Italy and the Vatican.■
