Strategy and Finance Minister Kim Dong-yeon says the improved situation on the Korean Peninsula should be reflected in South Korea's credit rating.
Kim made this request Saturday to representatives from leading credit rating agencies Fitch and S&P in Bali, the venue for a number of international meetings including a summit of G-20 finance ministers.
Kim says summits between both Koreas and those between North Korea and the U.S. are creating a peaceful atmosphere on the peninsula, with denuclearization also in progress.
He adds that this should provide chances for joint economic cooperation between Seoul and Pyongyang and potential for bigger economic growth in South Korea.■
