former President Lee Myung-bak
The first legal procedure for an appeal trial of former President Lee Myung-bak will begin this week.
It comes over two months after a lower court sentenced the former leader to 15 years in prison on corruption charges.
The Seoul High Court will hold the first pretrial hearing on Wednesday to discuss the schedule of court proceedings.
Lee is not expected to show up as he is not required to be present for the hearing.
In October, the Seoul Central District Court found Lee guilty of seven out of 16 counts including bribery and embezzlement.■
