cinemas in South Korea are empty as the public spends most time indoors amid coronavirus fears
The daily number of moviegoers in South Korea has dropped to a record low amid fears over the novel coronavirus.
According to data from the Korean Film Council, 25,873 people went to the theaters on Monday, the smallest daily figure since January 2004.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, local movie theaters have been struggling with a sharp drop in ticket sales.
In February, a daily average of 64,000 people saw films, only 13.5 percent of the average a year ago.■
