Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government says it will provide a disaster-related basic income of 100,000 won to all residents next month as a measure to support households financially crippled by the spread of COVID-19.
Governor Lee Jae-myung made the announcement during a press briefing Tuesday morning, saying the decision was made as the provincial government could no longer wait to help invigorate the regional economy.
The province's 13.64 million registered residents are eligible for the basic income, which will be provided in the form of a voucher that expires after three months.
The province secured the 1.36 trillion won from its disaster management fund, disaster relief fund and regional development fund.■
