The World Trade Organization will discuss the establishment of a panel to deal with Japan's export curbs against South Korea.
The WTO's Dispute Settlement Body is expected to hold a meeting Monday to discuss the Korean government's request to set up the panel to resolve the year-long trade row between the two countries.
However, the panel is not likely to convene until the next meeting to be held in July, as Tokyo is widely expected to protest the complaint.
Under WTO rules, a trade dispute settlement panel is to be automatically established at the next meeting unless all of the members of the trade body unanimously reject the decision.
Earlier this month, the Korean government decided to resume dispute settlement proceedings at the WTO over Japan's export control measures on three key semiconductor and display materials after Tokyo failed to demonstrate its intent to address the matter despite Seoul's repeated requests.
