Renault Samsung Motors' sole plant in South Korea resumed operations on Monday following a monthlong suspension aimed at controlling inventory amid the pandemic.
The company's plant in Busan had been offline from September 25 through October 18 for upgrades and maintenance ahead of production for the XM3 SUV.
The model is on track to be exported to Europe next year, potentially giving the automaker a much needed boost amid lackluster sales due to COVID-19.
From January to September, Renault Samsung's sales dipped 30 percent to 91,544 vehicles, compared to the 129,913 units it sold during the same period a year ago.
Meanwhile, the company and its labor union have yet to sign a wage and collective agreement deal for 2020.
