Unionized delivery workers have decided to stage a partial walkout in protest of a ban on ground-floor parking.
The delivery workers' union announced the move Friday following a vote in which 77 percent of workers backed the strike plan.
Around 2,000 are expected to take part in the action, the date of which will be determined later by the union's chief.
This comes after a monthlong conflict between deliverymen and residents of a large-scale apartment complex in Seoul's Gangdong District over a rule that requires delivery trucks to use only underground parking spaces for residents' safety.
Delivery workers strongly opposed such rules, saying the vast majority of trucks they use are unable to enter underground lots due to the maximum height clearance, forcing them to carry parcels from the complex's entrance to customers' doors, using carts, not only adding to their physical strain but also making them work longer hours.
