A growing cluster of coronavirus infections has forced the Trade Center branch of Hyundai Department Store in southern Seoul to keep its doors closed until next week.
Store President Kim Hyung-jong announced Thursday they would remain closed until at least next Monday to assure the safety of customers and employees.
He also apologized to the public and said the company will cooperate with health authorities to thoroughly disinfect the space.
As of Thursday afternoon, 71 cases, mostly store workers, have been linked to the cluster after the first infection was reported on Sunday.
More than 3,600 staff were tested and 500 are still waiting for their results.
Around 190,000 customers who visited the department store between June 26 and July 6 have also been asked to get screened for the virus.
