Scientist testing for diagnosing COVID-19
A Japanese man who visited Hawaii has been confirmed with the new coronavirus after his return to Japan.
According to Hawaii Health Director Bruce Anderson, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been notified of a man having the respiratory illness on Friday.
During his stay in Hawaii from January 28 to February 7, the man had cold-like symptoms but developed more serious symptoms when he returned to Japan where he was tested positive for the illness.
Hawaiian health officials are in the process of tracking down details about his travel on the island, including his flight information and people with whom he had close contact.
At least 15 cases of infection have been confirmed across in the United States.■
