press waiting at Congress for completed deal on stimulus package early Wednesday morning
The White House and the U.S. Senate have reached a historic stimulus deal worth 2 trillion dollars to alleviate the economic fallout from the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The stimulus package, one of the most expensive measures in Congress history, came after days of lengthy negotiations among Senate leaders.
CNN quoted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as saying that the deal is a "war-time level of investment" for the U.S. and that the Senate would move to pass it later on Wednesday.
The full details will be released later but proposal is said to set aside budgets for supporting both the "Main Street" and Wall Street, covering individuals as well as businesses of various sizes.
The deal is now awaiting approval from the House, of which several members have tested positive for COVID-19.■
