The British government has announced that it's scrapping the quarantine policy for passengers arriving in England from some countries deemed a lower coronavirus risk such as Spain, France, Italy and Germany.

The BBC's Andy Moore reports.

The government says it will publish a full list of countries exempt from the need to quarantine later today.

Most passengers will still have to provide contact information on entry so that they can be traced if necessary.

The government said it hopes people traveling to these exempted countries from England will not have to self-isolate but there is no guarantee of that.

The Department of Transport says these changes apply only to travel into England.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will set out their own approaches, which could mean travelers still having to self-quarantine.
