President Donald Trump is reportedly considering temporarily blocking American citizens and legal permanent residents abroad from returning to the United States if it is believed they may have been infected with the novel coronavirus.
The New York Times reported on Monday that Trump is reviewing a new draft immigration regulation and asked federal agencies to submit feedback to the White House by Tuesday.
Since the pandemic began earlier this year, Trump has banned the entry of foreigners, citing the risk of allowing the virus to spread.
U.S. citizens and permanent residents have been exempted from such entry restrictions.
