President Donald Trump has said it is horrible that the number of deaths from the coronavirus in the U.S. has exceeded 200,000.
But he said his intervention has helped reduce the toll.
The BBC's David Willis reports from Los Angeles.

Compared to other countries the figures are stunning.
The U.S. accounts for around 4 percent of the world's population but around 20 percent of deaths from the coronavirus.
President Trump continues to blame the crisis on China.
In a speech to the U.N., he once again vowed to hold the Chinese accountable.
Mr. Trump's Democratic rival, Joe Biden, said the president's incompetence had led to one of the greatest losses of American life in history.
The number of deaths here continue to average around 800 a day, with just over a month to go to an election that's expected to be, at least in part, a referendum on his handling of the pandemic.
