Tens of millions of Chinese are traveling as the country celebrates its Golden Week holiday amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
During the combined National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, from October 1-7, China is continuing to enforce masking and other safety requirements to try and prevent new outbreaks.
Health authorities there have not reported any new cases of local transmission in more than a month.
In Beijing, students and teachers have been advised not to leave the city to ensure classes resume smoothly after the break.
In a bid to encourage them to stay, movie theaters and tourist attractions in the capital are being allowed to operate at 75 percent capacity.
Chinese citizens usually travel abroad during the major holiday season, but this year about 40 percent of the population is expected to travel domestically, according to an AP report.
