U.S. Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett listens during a confirmation hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 14, 2020.
The United States Senate will vote next Monday to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said at a press conference Tuesday that it will be "another accomplishment in our effort to put on the courts, the federal courts, men and women who believe in the quaint notion that maybe the job of a judge is to actually follow the law."
The vote will be held eight days ahead of the presidential election.
Barrett was named by President Donald Trump to replace the late liberal icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the nation's highest court, despite criticism from Democrats.
Barrett's confirmation by the Senate to the lifetime post will give conservatives a 6-3 majority on the nine-member bench.
