The number of coronavirus infections confirmed in Japan has topped 100,000.
According to health ministry figures released Friday, 808 new cases were reported the previous day, bringing the COVID-19 caseload to 100,334.
The tally included 712 people from the Diamond Princess cruise ship that docked there earlier this year.
The overall death toll, meanwhile, is nearing 1,800.
Japan issued a nationwide state of emergency in April and May, and said it experienced a less serious second wave in August.
But since then, it has been seeing a slight uptrend in new cases in northern prefectures, setting off concerns over a surge in the winter.
