Argentina football legend Diego Maradona, one of the greatest players of all time, has died at the age of 60.
A member of his entourage said the World Cup-winning captain passed away Wednesday of a heart attack after undergoing brain surgery earlier this month.
Maradona will forever be remembered for his "Hand of God" goal against England in the 1986 World Cup quarterfinal in Mexico City, when he pushed the ball into the net, scoring a second goal minutes later.
He struggled with addiction to cocaine and alcohol and had been plagued by poor health in recent years.
Fellow Argentine Lionel Messi led the tributes from modern-day players, posting a picture of him and Maradona on Instagram with the message, "He has left us but he will never leave us because Diego is eternal."
Argentina's President Alberto Fernandez said Maradona was "the greatest of them all," and announced three days of national mourning.
