The head of the United Nations says he wishes peace and prosperity for the Korean Peninsula.
Antonio Guterres made the remark in a tweet Thursday to mark the 30th anniversary of the admission of both South and North Korea to the U.N.
The two Koreas simultaneously joined the world body on September 17, 1991.
Pyongyang joined as the 160th member and Seoul the 161st member.
Since then, South Korea has twice been elected to a non-permanent seat of the Security Council.
In 2006, Ban Ki-moon was elected as the first South Korean Secretary-General of the United Nations, and served 10 years as the world's top diplomat.
