Firefighters work to contain bushfires in New South Wales, Australia
South Korea is sending one million dollars in humanitarian aid to Australia to help the country recover from its deadly bushfires.
The foreign ministry said on Tuesday that the government is offering the aid through the Australian Red Cross to support those impacted by the fires that have killed at least 33 people and destroyed more than 3,000 homes.
The ministry also dispatched a delegation of officials, including members of the defense ministry and the forest service, to Australia to discuss ways to cooperate on restoration efforts.
Meanwhile, the Korea Meteorological Administration plans to provide its satellite-based real-time information of the blazes until they are extinguished.■
