Three confirmed COVID-19 cases in the South Korean military
Local military authorities are on high alert after a number of confirmed coronavirus cases were reported among service members.
According to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an Air Force officer stationed at the military's Gyeryongdae Complex in South Chungcheong Province tested positive for COVID-19 early this morning.
The officer, who was dispatched to the complex from Daegu on Monday, was tested after having coronavirus symptoms such as fever and chills earlier this week.
Daegu has seen a rapid surge in the number of COVID-19 cases this week after a possible "super spreader" was confirmed to be infected with the disease.
Earlier, a 22-year-old Navy sailor on Jeju Island and an Army officer in Jeungpyeong, North Chungcheong Province were also confirmed to have the virus.■
