Health Minister Park Neung-hoo has warned against students visiting multiuse facilities including singing rooms and PC rooms near schools amid the ongoing novel coronavirus outbreak.

During a Central Disaster Management Headquarters meeting Friday, Park noted that infections tied to an outbreak in Seoul's Itaewon nightlife district are spreading in facilities in other parts of the country.

He stressed that cooperation is needed from schools and households to keep students safe, and reiterated that everyone must practice everyday life quarantine to stem the spread of the virus.

The minister made the call after two high school seniors who visited a coin-operated singing room in Incheon tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, as schools physically reopened more than two months after the original start of the spring semester due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The students' cases prompted 66 high schools in the port city to suspend face-to-face classes.
