President Moon Jae-in plans to spend his retirement life in Yangsan, a rural city in South Gyeongsang Province.
According to presidential spokesman Kang Min-seok, Moon and First Lady Kim Jung-sook recently bought a 2,630-square-meter plot of land and a two-story house for 1.06 billion won at their own expense.
Moon already has a private home in Maegok-dong of the same city but the new land was bought due to security concerns caused mainly by the limited space of the area.
President Moon's five-year term ends in May 2022.
