The daily number of new coronavirus cases in South Korea continues an upward trend.
Health authorities are concerned the outbreak in the country may spiral out of control, with the virus spreading from the Seoul metropolitan area to Daejeon, Gwangju and now Daegu, once a major hotspot of infections.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday reported 63 more cases from Thursday, raising the total caseload to 12,967.
Fifty-two of the latest cases were locally transmitted with Gwangju confirming six more linked to the Gwangleug Temple while Daegu added 10, the first time its daily count has risen to double digits since April 7.
Imported cases also remain a major concern, with 11 more recorded from the previous day.
The KCDC did not report any new COVID-19 fatalities, leaving the death toll unchanged at 282.
