Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha (R) and visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun (L) hold talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Seoul on July 8, 2020.
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun held back-to-back talks Wednesday morning with senior officials in Seoul to explore ways to revive stalled nuclear talks with North Korea.
Biegun, who doubles as Washington's top nuclear envoy, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha.
He thanked Kang for hosting the meeting and working out the details for his safe arrival to Seoul amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Biegun later held a strategic dialogue with First Vice Foreign Minister Cho Sei-young.
The U.S. official, who is on a three-day visit to South Korea, was also scheduled to meet with Seoul's top nuclear envoy, Lee Do-hoon.
Their agenda is likely to focus on how to create momentum to restart dialogue with Pyongyang.
