From Monday, South Korea will lift restrictions on arrivals from the China's Hubei Province, where the novel coronavirus is believed to have first emerged late last year.

Vice Health Minister Kim Gang-lip said on Friday entry restrictions and visa-related steps on arrivals from Hubei will be eased as the province has not reported any cases of COVID-19 in recent days.

Since February 4, South Korea has imposed entry bans on foreigners who have been in Hubei province in the preceding two weeks and holders of visas issued by Hubei authorities.

The minister noted that China has also eased its coronavirus entry restrictions on South Koreans.

On Wednesday, China began accepting visa applications from South Korean students and workers and those with valid residence permits under the condition that they tested negative for the virus.
