Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun (C) heads to a meeting at the Government Complex in Seoul on the morning of Sept. 22, 2020.
South Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun has been tested for COVID-19 after one of his close aides was diagnosed with an infection on Tuesday.
According to the prime minister's office, Chung attended a government meeting in the morning, before learning about his aide's status, then canceled his schedule for the rest of the day.
The staff member reportedly came into contact with a COVID-19 patient on September 7 and got tested Monday.
However, he had not met with Chung since September 16.
The prime minister is expected to get the results of his test around 6 p.m.
Depending on the outcome, President Moon Jae-in may also be subject to testing as Chung met him the previous day during a meeting at Cheong Wa Dae.
