The National Medical Center in central Seoul is packed with residents on Wednesday, the first day of the Chuseok holiday, to get tested for the coronavirus.
The daily number of new coronavirus infections topped 100 Wednesday for the first time in five days.
The triple digit figure comes amid concerns of a further spread of the virus during the Chuseok holiday.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said it confirmed 113 new cases the previous day for a total caseload of 23,812.
It's a significant rise compared to the 38 cases that were reported a day earlier.
They are attributed to a high number of locally-transmitted infections, 93, mainly linked to sporadic clusters across the country, including a psychiatric hospital in Seoul's Dobong District and a defense systems company in Seongnam.
The latest cases also included 20 infections brought in from overseas.
Meanwhile, the KDCA reported six new virus-related fatalities, raising the national death toll to 413.
