South Korea has raised its travel advisory for seven Ethiopian cities as well as neighboring Eritrea to Level 3 amid unrest in the countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on travelers Wednesday to cancel or postpone their trips to the region and recommended Korean nationals there to leave.
The alert is the second highest on the four-level travel advisory system.
Ethiopia is in the throes of a growing conflict between the federal government and regional forces in Tigray, in the north of the country, that is spreading to neighboring Eritrea.
The ministry in Seoul said it will continue to keep an eye on the situation in northeast Africa, adding it could further upgrade its travel advisory.
