The South Korean Army reported on Wednesday at least 60 new coronavirus infections.
According to the defense ministry, the latest identified cases involve new recruits at the 5th Infantry Division's training center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province.
They began basic training on November 10.
Diagnostic tests are being carried out on over 1,000 other new recruits.
More infections could be confirmed due to the military personnel living in close quarters at training barracks.
