South Korea has welcomed U.S. President Joe Biden's plan to adopt a new approach to deal with the North Korean nuclear issue and work together on the matter.
Foreign ministry spokesman Choi Young-sam told reporters Tuesday that Seoul intends to cooperate closely with Washington to fully denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and establish permanent peace.
Choi added that the government will soon push for meetings of high-level officials from the two sides.
Earlier, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the Biden administration will come up with "a new strategy to keep the American people and our allies safe."
She noted that a review will be carried out on the United States' policy on North Korea in consultation with partners.
