The government is considering further adjustments to social distancing and quarantine rules amid a recent spike in cluster infections across the country.

Health ministry spokesman Son Young-rae said an announcement is expected either Friday or Saturday.

Level 2 social distancing measures are currently in place in the capital region and Level 1.5 elsewhere, but the restrictions are set to expire Sunday.

A 10 p.m. curfew for businesses in Seoul, the surrounding Gyeonggi Province, and Incheon also remain in place along with a nationwide ban on private social gatherings of five or more people.
