South Korea reported 619 new coronavirus cases Monday as infections from private gatherings, workplaces, schools and military bases continued amid little progress in vaccinations.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, 597 local and 22 imported cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, raising the total caseload to 132,290.

Three more lives were taken by the virus, pushing the death toll to 1,903.

Health authorities remained concerned over the risk of another wave of COVID-19 as all provinces and major cities, except for Sejong, reported new coronavirus patients.

The country is making efforts to keep social distancing at current levels and the daily case tally under 1,000, while trying to speed up vaccinations.

However, vaccine supplies have been tight.

So far, more than 3.7 million people have received their first shots of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Among them, around 940,000 people, or 1.8 percent of the population, have been fully vaccinated.
