• mRNA Vaccines From UK Could Arrive In S. Korea This Week Under Swap Deal
South Korea is expected to receive 1 million doses of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines from Britain starting this month.

President Moon Jae-in and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson discussed a bilateral vaccine swap during their summit talks in New York on Monday, day ahead of the United Nations General Assembly.

Moon's office said Johnson welcomed progress on the exchange deal, while the president expressed hope that it will serve as a chance to further solidify their relations.

A Cheong Wa Dae official in New York told reporters it's likely the vaccines from the U.K. will be supplied in batches from September 25.

It's unclear which mRNA vaccine, Pfizer or Moderna, the U.K. will provide to South Korea, but it will be enough to fully inoculate 500,000 people.

South Korea has already signed vaccine swap deals with Israel and Romania.
