The top diplomats of South Korea, the United States and Japan are set to hold a trilateral meeting on Wednesday afternoon on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
An official from Seoul's foreign ministry said Minister Chung Eui-yong will sit down with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Tokyo's Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi.
The official issues related to the Korean Peninsula as well as regional and global matters will be discussed.
They will likely cover North Korea's recent launches of ballistic and cruise missiles, the possibility of the regime's Yongbyon nuclear complex being reactivated and humanitarian assistance.
It will be their first face-to-face meeting since they met at the G7 in London in early May.
Minister Chung is also said to be pushing for bilateral talks with Motegi.
