Second Vice Health Minister Kang Do-tae has urged those who traveled during the Chuseok holiday to get tested for COVID-19.

In a meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters Wednesday, Kang noted the increase in movement during the five-day holiday and warned of more transmissions in areas outside the capital region, which have seen infections drop in recent days.

He also reminded people that the coronavirus continues to spread, calling the situation in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Incheon “serious.”

In addition, the second vice minister stressed the importance of getting vaccinated so that the country could return to normal life.

Before the start of the Chuseok holiday last week, South Korea hit its goal of inoculating more than 70 percent of its population with at least one dose.
