Health authorities in South Korea have reported 1,684 new cases of COVID-19 and eight more virus-related fatalities.
All but 14 of the infections recorded in the last 24 hours were local transmissions, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said in its update Friday.
According to data, Seoul and its surrounding areas remain the hotspot, accounting for 82 percent of new patients.
The daily number of new infections has stayed in the quadruple digits since July 7.
Since the start of the pandemic, the country has registered a total of 339,361, including 2,626 deaths.
