The sacrifices of fallen troops from the Korean War were commemorated at the annual "Turn Toward Busan" ceremony Thursday.

A moment of silence was observed while a 21-gun salute paid tribute to United Nations troops killed in the war.

In his speech at the event, Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said South Korea will preserve the value of freedom until complete peace is realized on the peninsula.

He said the country will continue to fulfill its obligations as a member of the international community and expand assistance to nations in need.

Kim also pledged efforts to find all soldiers missing from the war.

The recently recovered remains of three fallen British soldiers were buried during the event at the U.N. Memorial Cemetery in Busan.

Sixteen nations sent troops to the Korean Peninsula to fight alongside South Korean soldiers during the 1950-53 conflict.
