Hospital staff at Seoul’s National Medical Center
Amid concerns of the community transmission of COVID-19, new cases have been reported in the capital.
The Seocho District Office revealed on its social media platforms today that a 59-year-old South Korean man tested positive for the virus, marking the first infection in the area in southern Seoul.
According to the office, the man was diagnosed with the illness after he returned from Daegu where he attended a Shincheonji church service last Wednesday.
The district is disinfecting public facilities and has quarantined medical staff that came into contact with the patient.
In northern Seoul, Eunpyeong St. Mary's Hospital is suspending outpatient services until this weekend and its emergency room has been shut down until noon Sunday after an outpatient was confirmed to have COVID-19 this morning.■
