Parents and children wait outside a COVID-19 testing facility in Seoul's Gangseo District after a local 6-year-old boy tested positive for the virus.
More than a dozen kindergartens and elementary schools in Seoul's Gangseo District have postponed planned reopenings by another week after a 6-year-old boy tested positive for COVID-19.
The boy was diagnosed on Monday and is believed to have contracted the disease from his teacher at a private art school in the district.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, the boy's school as well as other schools in the area that have students who attended the same art class will continue to hold online classes.
First and second graders and kindergarteners across the country are scheduled to return to school on Wednesday, along with second year high school students and third year middle school students.
