The opening of swimming pools and water playgrounds at Han River parks in Seoul has been provisionally postponed due to a recent surge in coronavirus infections in the capital region.
Initially, five of eight pools and playgrounds, including ones at Ttukseom, Gwangnaru and Yeouido Hangang parks, were scheduled to operate from June 26 to August 23.
But the Seoul city government said it decided to delay the opening as it could be difficult to maintain everyday life distancing at the facilities.
It also noted that many of the pools are used by children and the elderly, vulnerable and high risk groups for the coronavirus.
Seoul city said it will make its final decision in mid-July.
