The Seoul Metropolitan Government is extending a ban on gatherings of more than 10 people until October 11, in line with special coronavirus quarantine measures that the central government will soon unveil.
The gathering ban was first imposed on August 21 after Liberation Day rallies held in central Seoul triggered a resurgence of COVID-19 in the capital area and other regions across the country.
Acting Seoul Mayor Seo Jeong-hyup announced the extension on Monday as part of quarantine guidelines for the capital as it was downgraded from Level 2.5 to Level 2 social distancing.
Restrictions on vehicle parking at Han River parks from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. have been lifted while convenience stores and cafes along the riverside can now operate after 9 p.m.
But busy areas of the Yeouido, Ttukseom and Banpo Hangang parks will remain closed off to the public.
