The Seoul Metropolitan Government is stepping up quarantine efforts against the coronavirus in line with social distancing measures being upgraded to Level 2 in the capital.
The city government announced in a press briefing Monday that it will declare a so-called emergency stoppage period from Tuesday until the end of the year.
The action will minimize the movement of residents, while gatherings of more than 10 people will be banned.
Buses and subways in the capital will also be reduced by 20 percent after 10 p.m.
The capital region has been a hotbed of sporadic cluster infections in recent weeks, and has registered over 200 virus cases for four days in a row.
