• Seoul Police Launch Year-End Drunk Driving Crackdown

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has launched an intenstive monthslong crackdown on drunk driving as part its year-end road safety campaign.

Sobriety checkpoints will be set up at 426 locations throughout the capital, including near nightlife hotspots, markets and subway stations, every night from 9 p.m. for four hours.

The campaign will run until January 23, 2021.

Police said public health guidelines with be followed and contactless breathalyzers will be used to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Authorities also plan to clamp down on people who drive under the influence during the early morning hours and in the afternoon, as well as conduct sobriety tests on people riding electronic kickboards.
